How to take care of your teeth?
- The toothbrush , an indispensable invention of XVIII century. How should we choose a proper toothbrush? How should we brush our teeth properly? What is its history?
- Teeth should be cleaned twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste in order to remove dental plaque – a sticky layer on teeth, which is the main reason for dental caries.
- Everyday use dental floss in order to remove dental plaque forming between teeth and in the places below gums line before it mineralizes and converts into dental calculus which can be removed only through a professional cleaning procedure.
- Visit your dental surgeon regularly in order to clean teeth professionally and to get check-ups. Children should visit a dental surgeon once every four months.
- Limit eating food rich with sugar or starch especially sticky snacks. The more you eat between meals the more the risk that bacterial plaque will attack dental enamel.
Obeying the rules
- Cleaning teeth too frequently can destroy enamel.
- Brushing teeth twice a day is enough.
- It is important to use the proper toothbrush.
- Toothbrushes should be changed at least every two months.
- The best is a medium hard toothbrush and a soft one for children.
- Full oral hygiene is not only teeth brushing but also the use of dental floss everyday.
